Home team wears dark jerseys.

Jersey changes may occur in Jamboree format after the 2nd game

Penalties - will be called and the player that is fouled receives a penalty shot from middle of ice

USA Hockey states at the 8U level players need to begin to understand the following:

Dangerous plays

Dangerous plays are defined as any play that endangers the safety of another player. At 8U level collisions will happen but any major stick infractions or dangerous body contact as stated above should be called.

In the clear scoring chances

In the clear, scoring chances are defined by any player in the clear attempting to attack the other net for a breakaway and is tripped or hooked down or purposely impeded, a penalty is called.

When a penalty is called, players go to their benches and the puck is put at center ice for a penalty shot with the goalie (if the buzzer rings during this process, let the player complete the penalty shot). This process should be done quickly to not waste time.

Major Penalty:

If a major penalty occurs the player is removed from the jamboree and referee writes in the infraction on the sign sheet. A major penalty is determined by SCAHA referee guidelines.

Faceoffs:

Faceoffs occur at center ice, as follows:

After a goal is scored.

At the start of a period.

After a penalty shot save or goal.

The faceoffs should be done immediately when a minimum of 1 player from each team lines up for the faceoff - referees don't need to wait for all players to get there.

Line Changes - when the buzzer goes players will change. The puck should be placed in a 50/50 corner before play starts. No player should get a breakaway off a line change. Referees may deem a faceoff if necessary.

On puck out of play and line changes - referees should have extra pucks in their pockets to put in the nearest corner of play. If the referee does not have extra puck, they will retrieve the puck and put the puck into play at the nearest corner to create a 50/50 battle.

On goalie covers - referees must command the offensive team to back off from the goalie so the referee can get the puck from the goalie. Referees will play the puck to the nearest corner or behind the net area to continue play as fast as possible.
